A Dark and Mysterious Stranger

Well not really, but he certainly has dark fur.  This is the second time he's been around and happily FH was able to grab the camera in time for some photos.

He's a melanistic grey squirrel.  We have them in the area but I'd never seen one in our yard until recently.  Around FH's office building they're even darker... like charcoal.

Kat, where there is one, there will probably be more. We have rock squirrels around here and I feed them. they love unsalted peanuts, lettuce and carrots. My squirrel family is better fed than I am! Good luck with him. He is really cute!

I think it was the DC zoo that I saw a 'black' one, They're really pretty , Aren't they?!

I live in a built up area so I miss squirrels where my husband works they have black ones. When I used to go to Scotland I used to like seeing the red ones so beautiful.

Cute! Squirrels are so fun to watch. There was an albino squirrel on campus a few years ago. We have red squirrels here. When we saw grey squirrels when I was in rehab, my sister commented that they all looked old. Her town has red squirrels too.
