A Veritable Flood of Yarn

Lots of fiber related things have been happening this week!

First off are my Icy Owl Warmers. I bought the pattern on Ravelry. It's called "Country Owl Wrist Warmers" for anyone interested.

Then since FuzzyHusband asked oh so nicely, I made him a new hat because Real Men Respect Pink. (That's the clever title I gave the project on Ravelry.) This was a free Ravelry download called "Pussy Hat Project."

Then I made myself a little something fun. I'm going to work this pattern up again at some point as I really enjoyed it. This is my Mammoth Cave Infinity Scarf. Mammoth Cave is the name of the yarn color. The pattern is free on Ravelry and is called the Savannah Infinity Scarf.

Now I'm almost finished with a new project! This is a free pattern on Lion Brand's website and is called Twisted Wave Cowl.  It's currently the length called for in the pattern, but for it to lay correctly on myself it needs to be a bit longer. So I'm going to see what another 6 inches looks like on it.

Now I bought myself a bit of a treat Saturday.

The caveat is I can't play with it until I finish the cowl from above, a hat/ear warmer thing that I've queued up, AND figured out what this mess is and fished what's in the bag.

I really only have a couple of guesses as to what's in that bag. It's been kicking around for a couple of years now. Here's hoping I get it figured out and everything finished so I can get my reward!

Now for a little something different. My niece (her mom is my "sister from another mister") had a painting party for her Sweet 16. I didn't feel much like painting a tree, so I did a kelp forest instead.

So that's all for now, I need to get this house tidied up, laundry done, some sewing worked on, and the back to the crochet. I might be late in posting next weekend. We'll be traveling for another family birthday. Just an FYI. Take care, everyone!

Blue and Burlesque

Short post this week. I've spent all week cleaning house because we have company this weekend. A friend came up for the weekend to join us for a burlesque show. The group is local and they always put on a great performance. The group is co-ed and their larger choreography numbers are quite elegant.

After the show, we met up with some of the performers and other mutual friends for pub food and desserts. Dancing does work up an appetite.

Now for the blue! I started the blue fingerless gloves today while we killed time before getting all dolled up for the show.

They're working up fast, so hopefully I will get them finished sooner rather than later. I might not get to make use of them this winter as it's already unseasonably warm here. But we'll see. The weather patterns in the midwest are always strange.

For now, it's actually 1:20 in the morning on Sunday and I'm heading towards bed. I thought I'd make up for forgetting last weekend's post by getting a jump on today's post. Plus we are all winding down from having such a fun evening! See you next weekend!

Whoops

Apparently I was too distracted by the impending ice storm that decided to not actually hit our city on Sunday. This made me forget all about the blog. Sorry about that. The storm did hit the surrounding towns, but skipped over our city.

I've been crocheting a bit more lately and have a few things to show off.

First a pair of fingerless mitts for FuzzyHusband. They match the hat I made him a couple of weeks ago.

Then I used up my scraps from a couple of older projects to make this braided ear warmer. It was lots of fun to play with. There is a matching set of fingerless gloves that I'm going to make, but I need to figure out how much brown I have left to use and where I can use it.

The tri-colored band was so much fun that I decided to make another one in this luscious blue yarn that I picked up.

I'll be making fingerless mitts that match in color, but in a different style from the braided ones.

For now it's back to laundry and starting to de-fuzz the house. Mercedes is already blowing her coat and the dust elephants are becoming cheeky.

See you on Sunday!

Oops!

Mercedes here. Mom forgot all about the blog thing today. She had an upset tummy during the week and today she got dragged around something called a 'bridal show' by one of my aunties.

Oh yeah, Artie says I'm supposed to tell you Mom will be back next weekend with maybe something fun. Yeah.

Ok. Back to naptime!

Here's hoping 2017 is kinder to us all!
