It's the Fourth of July!! Happy Independence Day to all my countrymen!
As we remember our founding fathers and the brave men and women who helped shape our country today, let us not forget those brave men and women who are fighting now.
Thank you, to the members of our Armed Forces and their families.
Your courage, patriotism, and sacrifice are not forgotten.
Your courage, patriotism, and sacrifice are not forgotten.
- My country, 'tis of thee,
- Sweet land of liberty,
- Of thee I sing;
- Land where my fathers died,
- Land of the pilgrims' pride,
- From every mountainside
- Let freedom ring!
- My native country, thee,
- Land of the noble free,
- Thy name I love;
- I love thy rocks and rills,
- Thy woods and templed hills;
- My heart with rapture thrills,
- Like that above.
- Let music swell the breeze,
- And ring from all the trees
- Sweet freedom's song;
- Let mortal tongues awake;
- Let all that breathe partake;
- Let rocks their silence break,
- The sound prolong.

That's lovely, I'm British but I understand your feelings xx Marlene
Happy 4th to you too, Kat!
Happy 4th to you too Kat.
As a Brit over here is is an odd feeling :-)
That's something I truly envy to you: your patriotism and sense of being part of a country no matter what your beliefs are.
Italy has never been a close knit country, it has been united little more than 1 century ago after 4000 years of division. We still talk differen languages in any region, television taught Italian to the people in the 50s.I, as first, feel Genoese more than Italian. I feel a sense of comradeship only when I go abroad.... Happy 4th to you and FH and cats of course.
Really nice, MiniK. Wanted to stop by and say hi, I'll be back more often soon.
Hi Kat, I've passed an award to you. Bi hugs
Happy 4th to you too, Kat! (Though a bit belated :) Great post. I think we've really lost touch with our roots in this country.
Interesting comments too.
